On the occasion of the 60th anniversary of Int. Berlin Film Festival (Berlinale) Uli M Schueppel (in cooperation with Bastian Schreitling/digital artist and Pictorion/DasWerk) has revised the Berlinale-Trailer/Opener.
From Feb 11 to Feb 21 2010 this version will open all films at the festival in all sections.
The Berlinale-Trailer (09) will be also screened at the 39th Int Film Festival Rotterdam (2010) in the programm "Signals - RE:Reloaded"/Trailer Park". Amongst others, there will be shown also festival-trailers by David Cronenberg, Manoel De Olivera, Ulrich Seidl, Roy Anderson, Jean-Luc Godard, Guy Maddin, or Bong Joon-Ho.

tranzania.living.room. is the working-title of a film Uli M Schueppel is shooting in August/September in Dar Es Salaam/Tanzania. The film will be part of a project called Forget Africa, initialized by Int. Filmfestival Rotterdam 2010 (supported by Goethe-Institute).

Uli M Schueppel recieves the "Underground Spirit Award 09"The "European Film Festival Palic" grants Uli M Schueppel with this years "Underground Spirit Award 09" for "his outstanding achievement in independent film production". The "16th European Film Festival Palic" (18. - 24.7.09) will screen seven Schueppel-Films in the official programm.
Last year the festival awarded the film "Waltz with Bazir" with the "Golden Tower"-Award, Andreas Dresen ("Cloud 9") recieved the award for "Best Director", der "Aleksanda-Liefka-Award" went to the director Ken Loach. The "Underground Spirit Award 08" recieved the French filmmaker François-Jacques Ossang.

Premiere: "Der Tag/ The Day"
The film-essay by Uli M Schueppel will be shown at the International Documentary Festival Leipzig (DOC Leipzig) in competition. "The Day" (Germany 2008/84 min) is a cinematographic meditation about life, time and spaces - and ist exits. Sonically, "daily life" is staged as a musical, dramaturgical sound collage by FM Einheit (Ex-Einstuerzende Neubauten/Palais Schaumburg).

The postproduction of the feature-length film-essay "Der Tag/The Day' by Uli M Schueppel (Originalsound-composition: FM Einheit) has finished. When & where (festivals?) the film will have the first screening isn't decided yet. Already there is an invitation for the film to the Int. Rotterdam Filmfestival 2009.
The TV-broadcast on Arte will be presumably in March 2009.

The research & preliminary works for the new documentary-film "WEGE/WAYS - 21.12.89" has started. Those of you who have been to the 1st Einstuerzende Neubauten-concert in EastBerlin89, or those who know somebody who was there, pls get in touch with schueppel-films.
The town is focused on the 5th Berlin Biennale.
Friday. April 11th opens the group-exhibition "Between Fiction And Fact / Strictly Berlin 08" in the Gdk (Galerie der Kuenste). The show will present for the first time the new videoinstallation "Annas Tag (Anna's Day)" by Uli M Schueppel. The exhibition is curated by Ingeborg Fülepp & Heiko Daxl and runs from April 12th to May 3rd 08.
In the suporting programme of the exhibition there will be a special-screening of the film-essay "Der Platz/The Place" by Uli M Schueppel (Berlinale-Forum of New Cinema 97) on Saturday, April 19th at 8pm, followed by a talk.
Opening on Friday, April 11th, at 8 pm in GdK (Galerie der Kuenste, Potsdamer Str. 98, 10785 Berlin).

Its nearly two years ago, that Nikki Sudden died.
I never forget the intense private concert he gave to my team and me at a party in the office of the "planet alex"-shooting in 1999. He even has a little cameo-appearance in this film. Sitting drunk at a bar...
The last time I met him was January 20th, 2006 at KingKongClub. Standing next to me at the bar... This night I met a very special person for the first time. I felt Nikki behind me, like an angel ...
Nikki's Berlin-friends organized a night-walk in memoriam through Kreuzberg April 3rd. 2006. This little video is dedicated to the memory of Nikki Sudden:
